Lent is a time of grace, a time for conversion, a time to come home to God.
~ St. Maximilian Kolbe
To hear Lent being described as a time to return to God takes the edge off things for me. More than ever, I sense I’m being made aware that it is not about rituals or penances, nor about human lists of weaknesses to overcome, but more like the shedding of burdens as I make my way back into His arms.
The way home will take the form of many little journeys. Yet, like the poor leper, I must reach my God, divested of the world and emptied of myself.
Amen! And each step no matter how small is progress!!

True, Val! One foot in front of the other, step by step.

…”more like the shedding of burdens as I make my way back into His arms.” So beautiful and inviting. He waits with open arms.

This is all new to me, Nancy. Lent has always been about add-ons. More prayers, more deprivations etc. This year, God’s changing my mindset😊

I think you are discovering the true meaning of Lent, and generously sharing it with the rest of us. Thank you for that…. Spiritual journeys are meant to be shared, I believe, because we can learn so much from each other!

The walk this year is a little different, so as always, I’ll be relying on my dearest blogging buddies to share this walk and to confirm His word or to make me discern deeper.

Love this. I’m trying to listen more this time. Maybe in the past it’s been more of a personal much needed reset, but it should be so much more.

It’s different every time because the journeys are never the same. But we all could do with more listening💙
